We have recently undertaken a pilot stage working with a group of 13 shops in 4 different regions in England. This included 11 community-owned village shops and 2 commercially-owned village shops.
These shops were supported in the practical implementation of the look for local scheme by local and specialist advisers appointed for their relevant food retail skills.
Throughout the pilot stage Look for Local Food has identified food and drink products that have been grown, raised or made within 30 miles of the point of sale, or in the same county.
We are proud to have worked with 60 local producers to date and plan to increase this network of local producers throughout the project.

A practical guide supporting the project has been written, printed and provided to these shops, plus branded point of sale materials that can be used to highlight specific locally produced items and ranges.
What will happen after the pilot stage?
