From spring 2009 the Mapping Local Food Webs Programme will be working in 24 towns and cities across England to find out more about local food.
We are currently running pilot mapping projects in
· Hastings (South East)
· Totnes (South West)
· Sheffield (Yorkshire & Humber)
· Leicester (East Midlands) and Kenilworth (NW)
We are working with a variety of community groups and individuals to carry out this research including the following: Borough and District Councils, CPRE Branches, University Students, Transition Towns groups, Slow Food groups, Women’s Institute, allotments societies and many more…
Mapping Local Food Webs Project Timetable
Ø Winter/Spring 2009: mapping food web pilots take place in Hastings, Totnes, Kenilworth, Knutsford, Sheffield and Leicester
Ø Spring/Summer 2009: National Mapping Begins in 24 locations across eight regions of England. Two new coordinators are recruited to map food webs in East and North East Of England
Ø Summer 2009: Communities write action plans for their towns and cities based on findings
Ø Winter 2010: Local, regional and national findings are turned into reports to raise awareness of local food webs across England
