Practical Support For Producers

We support our cooks with a Practical Handbook for indirect selling, with advice on Food Safety Management, Labelling Regulations, Packaging and Pricing, Business Agreements and Promotional Activity.

The Handbook includes a Better Business Guide designed to make our cooks into successful entrepreneurs. Cooks are good at cooking, but often have to struggle to master the basics of running a small enterprise, getting help and advice where they can. The aim of the Better Business Guide  is to answer that need with a manual designed to train and support cooks in better business planning and management. The Guide was written by Maurice McCartney, a consultant with Enterprise Support for the Making Local Food Work programme, in collaboration with the Country Markets Indirect Sales team. For a copy of the Better Business Guide telephone 01246 261307 or email info@cooksofcountrymarkets.co.uk

It is also available to download from the members’ area of our new Website www.cooksofcountrymarkets.co.uk where we offer a package of supporting materials for indirect sales, including a bespoke labelling programme which leads the producer through the process of building a label which is fully compliant with the regulations. A ‘find a retailer’ search tool on our website enables shoppers to find the stores which stock Country Markets goods.
