Loxley Valley Community Farm on Radio 4's On Your Farm

Loxley Valley Community Farm, a Community Supported Agriculture venture, was featured on BBC Radio 4's On Your Farm on Sunday.

Loxley Valley Community Farm is a community-led smallholding near Sheffield offering local people the opportunity to produce their own food and become more involved in their community. The farm has set up a local food cooperative that produces nutritious, safe and affordably priced food for members. It also works with the local community to promote the benefits of local food and sustainable farming.

Run by a group of volunteers, all of the farm work is shared so anyone can get involved, regardless of other work or personal commitments.  Through Making Local Food Work, Loxley Valley Community Farm has received specialist advice on establishing a cooperative and getting started as a community-led farm.  They also received mentoring through a specialist who knows and understands community food enterprises and attended local training and networking events run by Making Local Food Work.

A representative of Loxley Valley Community Farm said: ‘Support from Making Local Food Work has been important to the success of our community farm.  It should be the first port of call for anyone considering setting up a food project for their community.’
