Getting involved

Who can get involved?

If you are a village or community-owned shop in England we can help you find local producers. Priority will be given to:

  • Any community-owned village shop that is already trading and would like to increase its current local food and drink offering;
  • Any commercially-owned village shop that has suffered from a recent Post Office closure, or if it is the only shop in the village and would like to increase its local food and drink offering.

If you are a producer and would like to supply a local shop, you can do so by completing the Supplier Questionnaire and returning it to

The Look for Local Food project defines local food as being grown, made or raised within 30 miles or within the county. This applies to both primary products (meat, vegetables, eggs and milk) and added value products (bread, cakes, preserves, butter and pies). Wherever possible key ingredients must be locally sourced.

How to sign up

Shops wishing to sign up to the Look for Local Food project can do so by completing the registration questionnaire on the right hand side of this page and returning it to

Once enrolled on the project, shops will be required to submit an update after the first twelve months as well as monthly updates on any new local producers and local food sales. A small number of shops will also be contacted to gather information on the wider outcomes of the programme.

You can find out more about the project and ways of getting involved by emailing Nicole Hamilton at or by calling 01993 810730.
