Kindling Trust and the Manchester Veg People

Kindling Trust is a not-for-profit organisation with the aim of supporting, promoting and practicing sustainable production, activism and living.

They used funding from Making Local Food Work to help a group of organic growers in the Greater Manchester area develop a co-operative of growers and buyers.

At the time of the completion of the funding (Sept 2011) the co-operative, called the Manchester Veg People, had four producer members and two buyer members including the University of Manchester.

During the programme, their produce had been eaten by an estimated 38,000 people.

Growing Manchester's Veg People

This practial guide details the creation and development of the co-operative. It includes template documents to enable others to replicate the co-operative for themselves.

Manchester film

We have released a short film which looks at the work of Kindling Trust, Manchester Veg People and other groups in Manchester working to take control of their food. We hope the film will inspire others to get involved and do the same.
